Visitors to the safari were sᴛᴀʀᴛʟᴇd when a wild dog that was being held captive by a lioness escaped after pretending to be ᴅᴇᴀᴅ. The tragic sᴄᴇɴᴇ was recorded on a game drive in Zɪᴍʙᴀʙᴡᴇ’s Hwange National Park. Tour leader Calvet, 49, was leading the group from African Bush Camps when they came upon the wild dog pack.

When the lioness emerged, the dogs had just finished devouring a kudu, a species of antelope. Unlucky dog was quickly engulfed in the ravenous lioness’ teeth after being unable to flee. The dog now appeared to be ᴅᴇᴀᴅ with its legs hanging limp, and the predator moved around while holding onto it.

The lioness, however, suddenly noticed more possible prey as another wild dog approached the large cat. The lioness throwed the first dog to the ground and pursued the second one, which managed to elude the swift animal.
