Beaubourg par Nikolay Polissky - Journal du Design

Russian artist Nikolay Polissky has just completed an impressive 72-foot-tall woven sculpture entitled Beaubourg. After taking a recent trip to France, Polissky was inspired by the architecturally stunning Pompidou Center and worked its trademark hollow tube construction into the installation, even naming the piece after one of the oldest districts in Paris.

Beaubourg’s meticulous construction was extremely time-consuming. The artist wove birch twigs around a giant metal frame to create the tubes, which also hides the hollow, spiraling staircase. The sculpture is the centerpiece for a number of art and music events happening throughout the Nikola-Lenivets art park, just outside of Moscow, and will even be lit up at night.
