Amur, a Siberian tiger usually eats goats. Until he met a man now called Timur. Amur lives in Russia’s Primorye Safari Park and feeds on live food twice a week (usually goats and rabbits).

 

But when Timur was brought into the enclosure (the goat had no name at the time), the zookeepers were shocked at what ended up happening. Amur left the goat alone, writes reshareworthy.

“No one taught the goat to be afraid of the tiger. So Amur decided not to mess with the intrepid goat and did not eat it,” zookeepers wrote on the park’s website.

Since then, Amur has decided that Timur was not prey, the two acting like old friends. Timur walks behind Amur and follows the tiger everywhere.

 

He feeds him every day and it seems that Amur is getting attached to his new friend. Zookeepers say he has even become protective of the cute goat. “[He] hissed at an employee who feeds the tigers, as if to say: ‘Hey, don’t even think about going near my friend.’ Before that, he never showed any aggression towards the staff,” zookeepers told RT. It seems that Amur is as fond of the goat as the goat is of him.

The world was delighted by the unlikely friendship that formed between Timur and Amur, but their friendship soured after they had a violent fight. The zoo separated them after Timur pricked the tiger with his horns, causing it to grab him by the teeth and shake him like a kitten. But Amur did not kill Timur, although the goat had to be treated for infected scratches. For the safety of both, it has been decided to lock them up in separate enclosures. But their romance isn’t quite over, according to the zoo. Their enclosures are next to each other and the two like to greet each other, albeit with the safety of a fence between them.
